MAYOR CAMPBELL ANNOUNCES
ATLANTA-NUREMBERG SISTER CITY RELATIONSHIP
Mayor Bill Campbell today announced that on his behalf a
delegation under the leadership of Atlanta City Council member Vern McCarty has signed a
Sister City Agreement between Atlanta and the German City of Nuremberg. The two
cities will explore a closer cooperation in the areas of economic, cultural and
educational development.
"We are very happy to officiate ties with the city of
Nuremberg, Germany as our newest Sister City," said Mayor Campbell. "It is
a very promising relationship that is already beginning to blossom with the cooperation
between institutions of higher learning in our two cities."
In addition to Council member McCarty, the Atlanta
delegation includes:
Ms. Steronica Dunston, Office of International Affairs for the City of Atlanta; Mr. Nick
Gold, Press Secretary and Spokesman for Mayor Bill Campbell; Professor Dr. Augustine O.
Esogbue, Vice Chair, Atlanta Sister Cities Commission; Dr. Frank D. Larkins, Chair,
Nuremberg/Atlanta Sister
Cities Committee; Dr. Fenwick Huss, Director, Institute of International Business, Georgia
State University; and Mr. Daniel E. Kinsey, Institute of International Business, Georgia
State University.
A reciprocal Nuremberg delegation is
planned to visit Atlanta in 1999.
