Mission
Statement
To establish an effective communications link with citizens and media to
promote positive images of the City of Atlanta.
Function
- Showcase
accomplishments of Mayor Franklin's Administration through
City Beat newspaper, the City Channel and other media
- Develop
and promote consistent messages and themes
- Aid
the Administration in making key scheduling and public
policy decisions
- Staff
the Mayor at public appearances
- Prepare
talking points and speeches for reference
- Generate
written materials for placement in local and national
publications
- Work
with outside media to ensure accurate coverage of Mayoral
accomplishments
- Facilitate
the ushering in of competitive telecommunication companies
to provide citizens with reasonably priced and adequate
cable and telephony services
- Promote
cooperation between City departments and the Office of
Communications to advance Administration's policies and
programs
