Corridor Studies
Outside of the Empowerment Zone, the city has conducted a series of corridor studies.
Completed Studies:
Cheshire Bridge Road Study

This comprehensive study addressed transportation, marketing, urban design, environment and land use concerns in the area. Recommendations include a number of transportation and streetscape improvements which are currently funded and underway.
North Highland Avenue Study

This study focused on the transportation, parking and pedestrian issues along North Highland Avenue to preserve and enhance the unique character of the adjacent neighborhoods
East Atlanta Village Study

This was a comprehensive commercial Revitalization plan promoting neighborhood commercial development. Study recommendations include streetscape and transportation improvements
Campbellton Road Study

This study includes portions of Campbellton Road in the City and unincorporated Fulton County, and was funded by both entities. The master plan for the corridor included recommendations for the adjacent land use and conceptual designs for commercial nodes, streetscape development and needed traffic calming alternatives.
Memorial Drive Area Revitalization Study

This study analyzed the existing often-underutilized properties along the corridor. Recommendations include proposed mixed-use development areas that satisfy the need for more retail, cultural and neighborhood services, while still preserving the scale and character of adjacent neighborhoods. The study was conducted concurrently with the Empowerment Zone neighborhood master plans.
Pittsburgh Redevelopment Plan

This plan helped to develop a long-term community-wide vision and policy for the Pittsburgh Neighborhood. The plan generated 27 redevelopment projects, a land use plan, civic and transportation improvements as well as a rezoning plan. This effort will help protect existing neighborhood residents and will bring investment back into this once-thriving community.
New Studies
Northside Drive

The study will determine future traffic impacts and make recommendations for future land uses on underdeveloped parcels. It will also investigate the feasibility of light rail or other mass transit using Northside Drive as a route from Atlantic Steel to Georgia Tech and the World Congress center and Beyond: investigate routed options for commercial truck traffic, other traffic-calming devices, improve sidewalk and streetscape environments
Martin Luther King Jr. Drive
In addition to the existing deficiencies related to pedestrian safety and efficiency, there is a surge of new development activity at various points along the corridor. The MLK Drive Corridor study will conduct a land use analysis, determine future traffic impacts and make recommendations for future land uses, and road and intersection improvements.
Moreland Avenue
The purpose for the Moreland Avenue Sub-Area Transportation Study, is to arrive at a set of practical recommendations for improved coordination of all types of transportation through the area and to identify potential enhancements to non-motorized modes of movement including access to transit, pedestrian and bicycle friendly infrastructure, and incentives for increased mixed use/mixed income development along the corridor.
Ponce De Leon
This corridor is experiencing a surge of current and proposed construction of large developments. The study will recommend land uses, ingress and egress to adjacent developments, improvements to intersections and traffic signals and other road improvements, which will address the safety and efficiency of the corridor.
