Current Policies

Improving educational quality and access is absolutely vital to Atlanta’s future.  In recognition of this imperative, the City, through the Atlanta Board of Education, schools of higher learning, and the library system, seeks to link and coordinate its support of quality education.  The following policies are aimed at achieving these goals:

  1. Fulfill citizen’s life preparation and intellectual need.
  2. Assure access to ideas, information and technology.
  3. Improve academic performance.
  4. Retain and attract students.
  5. Control violence in school settings.
  6. Promote the constructive renovation of local school and library facilities.
  7. Work in bridging the digital divide.
