Councilman Mitchell Leads Effort to Restore Vine City After Tornado Storm

In March 2008 the city of Atlanta was awakened with several communities devastated by tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.  Homes were destroyed, power lines were down, and people were physically and emotionally jarred.

Through the leadership of Councilman Ceasar C. Mitchell (Post 1 At-Large) and other city elected officials, businesses, and volunteer organizations, neighborhoods like Vine City were ground zero for a wellspring of support.  "It is during times of great adversity do we truly see the spirit of community shine in Atlanta.  I am glad we can work with the people of Vine City to address the devastation caused by the tornado storm," said Councilman Mitchell.

Since the storm, federal, state, county, and municipal agencies have been working to assist homeowners, business owners, and other citizens who have lost their property or suffered any other injury stemming from the tornadoes.
