Anne Fauver was elected to the City Council in 2001 thanks in large part to her 30-year record of building coalitions and helping resolve problems that plague the city's neighborhoods. She represents District 6. Trained as a journalist, she has the ability to find answers and ask tough questions that bring results. She was elected to office on a platform that included plans to help Atlanta become clean, green, honest, efficient and kind. Fauver has been a neighborhood advocate through her memberships on the Atlanta Urban Design Commission and the Atlanta Task Force on Subdivisions for Zoning Regulations. She has also been a part of the activities of several intown neighborhood associations. She was an early supporter of the PARC911 initiative, an effort to improve municipal park land and recreation facilities. Fauver has worked as a volunteer for Atlanta Public Schools and helped found the Symphony for Tots Program and the AIDS Research Consortium of Atlanta. She has also been an advocate for child abuse victims and battered women. Fauver has owned her own realty company for over 20 years, is a life member of the Million Dollar Club and served as chairwoman of the Information Technology for Metro Listing Service. During her campaign for office, a wide variety of groups endorsed her candidacy including the Georgia Equality Project, the Women's Campaign Fund and the Victory Fund. |
