Archibong was introduced to excellence in education, civic involvement, and public service early in life by her parents. Her father, Nathaniel Mosby, was a former DeKalb County Commissioner. Gwendolyn Mosby, her mother is a retired Atlanta Public Schoolteacher. A graduate of the public school system, Archibong received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Georgia Southwestern University, a Master's degree in Public Administration from Georgia State University, and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Georgia. As an educational activist, Archibong served as Corporate Secretary to APPLE Corps, Inc. She is founding member of the 5 Ih District parent sponsored public school advocacy group O.A.S.I.S. Atlanta. Because of her dedication to the improvement of public schools Archibong was asked to serve as a member of Atlanta Public School's Community Oversight Committee. In a volunteer position, she gave input and structure to the Adult Literacy and Technology Program at Peterson Elementary School. Always committed to improving the quality of life for citizens through public policy, Archibong has been instrumental in putting forth public safety initiatives as a member of the Atlanta Police Zone 6 Advisory Committee. In 1999, she served a local neighborhood planning unit as Public Safety Chair. She has been actively involved in the enhancement of greenspace and recreational opportunities as a member of Brownwood Park Parents Advisory Board and Coan Park Tennis Program. Archibong is a business owner who operates her private law firm in the district in which she serves. Realizing the need for coordination of the growing business environment in East Atlanta, Archibong founded the East Atlanta Business Association and served as its first president. The greatest accomplishment of the organization has been the comprehensive development study that when implemented, will transform this business district into a successful and improved district serving a diverse population of neighborhood residents. As a leading voice on business development issues, Archibong lends her advisory support to Atlanta's first Micro-loan and Entrepreneurial Development program for Low Income Women, Business N.O.W., a program of Goodwill Industries of Atlanta. Through this program, women previously unable to take advantage of business resources now have the opportunity to become small business owners with access to adequate funding. |
