Councilman Mitchell is an Atlanta native who has a deep sense of commitment to Atlanta, the by-product of being the son of two public servants. Mr. Mitchell was raised by a father, who was a police officer, and a mother, who was a teacher. His dedication to integrity, leadership and service resulted from lessons taught by his parents. He is an avid sports fan and learned the value of teamwork by participating in sporting events. The councilman was a top student/athlete and received the Golden Helmet award from Coca-Cola in recognition of his school accomplishments. A Morehouse College graduate, Mr. Mitchell was a campus leader. He was editor of the schools’ year book, an honor student and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. While enrolled in law school at the University of Georgia, the councilman won a national constitutional law moot court championship and was president of the Black Law Students Association. He received his law school degree in 1995 and practices commercial real estate law with the national firm Epstein, Becker and Green P.C. |
