Register to vote

To register to vote in the state of Georgia, you must be:

  1. A citizen of the United States
  2. A legal resident of Georgia and of the county in which you wish to vote
  3. At least 18 years of age by election day

Also, you may not register to vote if you are currently:

  1. Serving any sentence imposed by the conviction of a felony
  2. Judicially determined to be mentally incompetent

In the state of Georgia, you do not have to register by political party to vote in the state's regular primaries or general elections.

You can download a form from our website and mail it to the address the appropriate address below. You can fill out this form online and then print it out. (To complete and print this form, you will need Adobe Acrobat, which you can download free.)

You may mail your completed form, or present it in person to the Office of the Secretary of State or to your appropriate County Board of Elections. You cannot submit your voter registration form via fax.

Absentee Voting

You can get an absentee ballot request from the Office of the Secretary of State, or from any County Election Board. We have provided you with an online ballot that you can download and complete online and then print it out. (To complete and print this form, you will need Adobe Acrobat, which you can download free.) You may mail or fax the form, or present it in person to your County Board of Elections.
