Councilman C. T. Martin is pleased to announce that the Crime Alert
program (CAP), initiated in 2001, is vigorously continuing. This is an
innovative program designed to promote the monitoring, reporting, and
curtailing of crime in the residential and commercial areas of
District 10. Under the program, citizens are requested to sort their
crime report telephone calls into two categories: (1). To Report Crimes
in Progress – call 911 (2). To Report Habitual
Criminal Activity – call your local police precinct.. Zone 1 – 404.799-2487 2315 Donald L. Hollowell Parkway (Neighborhoods north of I-20, between the city limits and Northside Drive). This includes neighborhoods between I-20 and Bankhead Highway (Donald L. Hollowell Parkway), along both sides of Bankhead Highway (Donald L. Hollowell Parkway), and along both sides of Hollywood Road.
Zone 4 – 404.756-1903 1125 Cascade Circle (Neighborhoods south of I-20, between the city limits and downtown Lee St. in the West End) To respond to citizens’ Habitual Crime Activity reports, Zone 4 coordinates non emergency Crime Prevention activities out of 3 mini-precinct locations: 2014 Campbellton Road – Crime Prevention Inspectors; 3555 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive – Crime Suppression Activities; 3201 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. – Detectives. In addition, citizens are asked to provide District 10 council staff with all information given to 911 and their precincts. The council staff will work in concert with the Atlanta Police Department to ensure fast and effective responses to citizen concerns. A "Crime Alert Sheet", available from the District 10 Council office, has been developed for use by residents and business owners who participate in this program. This form allows for specific information to be recorded about illicit activity. Information from the sheets will be used by the District 10 council staff to monitor the progress that is made in solving reported problems. To obtain additional information about CAP, please call 404-330-6055. |

Annual Spring Clean-up Sweep Along Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive Annually, over 150 enthusiastic Atlantans brave late winter weather to participate in a cleanup effort along the stretch of Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive that extends from Anderson Avenue to the city limits near Fulton Industrial Boulevard. Volunteers from a wide range of local organizations worked with residents of District Ten to clear vacant lots and curbsides of varying types of debris. The activity was part of a larger effort coordinated with Hands on Atlanta. The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Sweep receives organizational support and generous food donations from various community associations, community organizations, the District 10 Council office, the city’s Office of Community Affairs, the Zone 4 precinct of the Atlanta Police Department, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Merchants’ Association. One community leader commented, "District 10 residents should applaud the dedicated volunteers who made a commendable effort to beautify the community. The cleanliness of our environment is an outward reflection of the pride that we have for our district. Hopefully, this clean-up effort will encourage others to take an active role in keeping our corridor pristine." |
