Atlanta City Council Renames Street after Civil Rights Organization 
Legislation sponsored by City Councilman Michael Julian Bond, son of one of the founders of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee ATLANTA – Fifty years to the day that four black students sat at a Greensboro, S.C. Woolworth lunch counter in defiance of segregation laws of the time, the Atlanta City Council officially renamed a street in honor of the civil rights organization formed as a direct result of the student’s bold actions. 

Atlanta City Council approves resolution to address city’s growing public safety and infrastructure needs 
Measure must be approved by the Georgia General Assembly and then city voters. ATLANTA – The Atlanta City Council unanimously approved a resolution that would give voters the opportunity to fund the city’s growing public safety and infrastructure needs through a municipal option sales tax. 

City Accepts Federal Dollars Aimed at Helping to Prevent Homelessness 
The Atlanta City Council approved the acceptance of $3.4 million in federal dollars that will be used to fund community-based projects aimed at preventing homelessness under the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP).

Legislation introduced to create community improvement district along Campbellton Road, Camp Creek Marketplace and the Greenbriar Mall area 
ATLANTA – Atlanta City Councilmember H. Lamar Willis authored legislation that would allow for the creation of the southwest Atlanta community improvement district (CID) as authorized by the General Assembly.

City Council says ‘now is not the time’ for salary increases
